The DCF signal is transmitted at 77.5KHz from Frankfurt in Germany and covers most of Europe. The MSF signal is transmitted at 60KHz and is transmitted from Rugby and covers the UK; greater distances can be obtained at night where less interference is present. The received and decoded signal provides a very accurate time base within + or - 20Ms and also ensures automatic summer/winter time changes.
The GPS system locks on to several satellites orbiting the earth at a height of 20,183km. The GPS receiver will identify and cross check each satellite to determine exact time before decoding for acceptance within the master clock's software. The GPS system is not reliant on signal strength but requires 75% view of the sky, and is ideally suited for installations where poor signal strength prohibits the use of land based stations.

Master clocks distribute impulses via 'lines' and our table indicates the number that each master clock provides complete with voltage and capacity. This information is necessary when calculating the number of slave clocks a particular master clock will operate.

Power supply is the input side of the Grayson master clock and our table illustrates the type of power required to operate it. External power supply always incorporates battery back-up which enables us to tailor reserve running to the customers specification.

Memory reserve is the master clock's in-built memory and in the event of a power failure the master clock will store the exact down time and automatically restore the system to correct time when the power is restored.

The capacity of the batteries installed in our external power supply unit is dependent on the size of the system and the down time reserve required, standard batteries are 2x1.2Ah. |

The output alarm relay will provide a closed contact in the event of a system line failure and this facility can be incorporated within most building management systems.

Computers are synchronised by a number of available formats by the master clock, which when connected to time synchronisation is operating on 'exact time'. This enables computers to communicate without conflict. We can provide detailed product information and advise on various options to suit your individual system.

Master clock programming will enable various switching circuits within the Master clock's memory to operate lighting, heating and many other electrical functions.
Altogether 64 signal/switching circuits over 1-4 lines are already built into the master clock to make contacts. Yearly, weekly, daily, hourly and wild card programs are possible together with computer programming and downloading via a suitable connection.

There are two types of systems available, one will activate existing bells, although electromagnetic bell hammers will be required. The other is completely electronic & reproduces exact bell sound, for this feature amplifiers and speakers will be required.

This new type of system that transmits constant voltage and time data throughout all connected line circuits. The information is decoded by each movement thus allowing for automatic correction and by recognizing exactly where the slave clock's hands are located.
A new clock can be installed without concern for time setting and the complete system can be re-set to 12 o'clock for testing. Versions are also produced for exterior installations. |
